How to Register/Sign Up for Telebirr

Customers of Ethio Telecom must first register their Telebirr accounts before they can use the Telebirr mobile money service. Customers can register their accounts in one of three methods. These techniques are as follows:
Option 1: USSD Self-Registration
Customers can self-register for the Telebirr service. Customers must use the USSD service on their mobile devices to accomplish this. Customers should use the same SIM card that they intend to use to register for the Telebirr mobile money service when using the USSD service. The procedure for self-registration is as follows:

• Select "Self-registration" and press OK/SEND • Enter First, Middle, and Last Names sequentially and press OK/SEND • Select Gender and type OK/SEND • Enter Date of Birth and press OK/SEND • Enter invitation code or select # to skip • Select OK/SEND once the confirmation Pop Up appears on the phone screen • Afterwards, a PIN code is received via SMS • Dial *127# again to activate • Select language and enter the default PIN

Customers can open an account with Telebirr via a mobile app. The following steps must be taken to open an account with the App:
• Select "New Account" from the drop-down menu.
• Select "Quick Create Account" or "Self-Create Account" • Enter your cellphone number and click "Get Code" • Enter the code you received in the verification code field and click "Next" Input personal information (Title, ID Type, ID Card, First, Middle, and Last Name, Gender, Date of Birth, and Preferred Language) • After entering personal information, click SUNMIT • Wait for the PIN code to be delivered by SMS • Enter the default PIN and press login
• To activate the account, replace the default PIN with a new one and press the FINISH button.
• Wait for the SMS confirming that the account has been activated successfully.
Option 3: Agent Enrollment
Customers of Telebirr can also open an account at an authorized agent or Ethio telecom shop. To register, simply go to any nearby agent or Ethio Telecom outlet. In order to successfully register an account, customers must bring evidence of identity to the agent.
